Every week we are bombarded with literature from a variety of sources; the BMJ, BJGP, Lancet, NEJM to name just a few. And then there are all those guidelines....
As primary care practitioners we want to stay up to date but the task is a formidable one and, with the best will in the world, it is hard to achieve.
We want to help by collating and synthesising that evidence for you - we have done all the legwork so that you don't have to!
Everything we present is fully referenced - so if you want to do some more research or read the original article you can, but you don't have to.
Importantly, we have no involvement whatsoever with pharmaceutical companies, so there will be no biasing of the information presented to you.
Why should I come on this course as opposed to others?
This course is run by GPs for GPs.We enjoy our job and want to share our passion and enthusiasm with you!
All of our speakers are UK based GPs,in daily contact with the same medical and regulatory issues that you are.
We focus on actions. We will concentrate on what it means to you and your patients, in the consulting room tomorrow.
We run the course at more venuesthan any other one day update course in England, meaning that there will be one close to you.
You will receive a copy of the GP Update Handbook, a 350 page document covering the results of the most important research relevant to primary care over the last 5 years. An extremely useful reference which details much much more than is covered on the course.
We use humour and visual cuesto help get the messages across. We use a lecture style approach with plenty of interaction from the audience and we know how hard it is to concentrate so we will do our best to keep you listening (and learning!) throughout the day. We don't use enormous venues and pack people in like plichards. The courses are popular and we keep delegate numbers at a manageable level to enable maximum speaker/audience interaction.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, you will enjoy it!
